Hot Takes from the Pickle Addicts Anonymous Facebook Group

In these times of A.I. slop, existential dread, and optimize-everything productivity, one yearns for the old Internet. The days when niche online communities made us feel more connected and less alone, where pockets of digital space were for strangers to share in fandom, perform weird low-fi skits for their friends, or post their longings on AOL community message boards. Thankfully, there are still Facebook groups that harness this old Tumblr energy, where collections of weirdos guide one another through their latest obsessions.
That vintage web feeling is alive and well in the “Pickle Addicts (Not So) Anonymous” Facebook group. Leave your smugness at the door, these 1.1 million members around the world are looking for one thing and one thing only: Pickles. Unusual pickle products, schemes for convincing restaurants to give you all the pickles in their kitchen, a sympathetic community while you bemoan the lack of pickles currently on your plate — it’s a safe space for all pickle needs. We scoured (it took everything not to say “soured") the group so you don’t have to. Here are a few of our favorite finds:

- This woman needs help with her overwhelming pickle obsession and is definitely, absolutely, not with-child.

- Cup O' Noodles makes pickle flavored noodles. Comments are divided, with one person saying, “These are disgusting,” and another saying, “These were made for me.”

- Pickle Donuts. Once again, the people are split. Reviews oscillated from, “Yum I need to try this!” to “There is no way this could be worse than the [Cup Noodle] Ramen."

- Pickle Taffy. Top Contributor Comment: “I just got my pickle taffy yesterday. It's not as pickley as it used to be in my opinion but I will still buy it.”

- Van Holten’s Pickle In-A Pouch Extreme Sour Warheads Blue Raspberry Flavor. All star contributor Reese Barns of Deer Park, Texas shared her take on these juicy affronts to God: “This sh*t was RANK. Not that I expected it to be good but I expected it to be somewhat edible.”
